Dear Mr. Newman,

I have been a fan of yours ever since first seeing The Sting when I was a 10-year old boy.  Your philanthropy over the years is, of course, commendable but Mr. Newman, it would be a colossal mistake on your part to think that it is only through your charity work that you have spread happiness throughout the world.

Dear Miss O’Brien,

I am a 46-year-old teacher living in Amarillo, Texas.  I am married & teach music at South Lawn Elementary School.  My wife and I have no kids.  I am writing you to let you know that I am a huge fan of yours.  I am a huge fan but I have to make a confession:  I haven’t been a huge fan for very long.  I became a huge fan after seeing some of your movies on August 15 for your “Summer Under the Stars” day on TCM.  Being an old movie buff, I did know who you were before your day on TCM.

Don’t get me wrong. I love my country. I am so blessed to be born in America—the greatest country on the face of the Earth. And to have freedoms that others born in a different time & place don’t have. I do not and should not take that for granted. But is it un-American to think that every human being has the right to health care?
